On Saturday, Don and I decided to break away from the kids for a while and we went on a little excursion. Destination? Anywhere pretty. We didn't have to look for long. Just 15 minutes down I 15 there is the exit for Kolob Canyon. It is the less-traveled side of Zion National Park, and so close to our house!
The road was closed about 2 miles in, but we hoofed it a little farther to get a peek at what was past the red peaks. This is what the valley looked like opposite the Canyon.
Not a bad view from this side either! The sun didn't want to come out and play, but it made for some dramatic clouds, and muted colors. The whole place was quiet. The perfect spot for hand-holding and eye-gazing with your honey...if that's your thing. It's totally my thing! Hey, when there are no kids around who think your smooching habits are gross, then why not take advantage!
Why is there a cow after all that kiss-talk? After our Canyon walk, we took the scenic drive home, and stopped to say hi to some cows. This guy (or gal, I didn't take a close look) was very curious about me and my clicking. I hope he (or she) doesn't end up as someone's hamburger someday! He's too cute! I think he (or she) would have kissed me too...it was just that kind of day.
Oh Deer! This is a fairly common site around Cedar City, but I still love it when I see some deer bounding through town. I don't love it when they bound anywhere near any place I might be driving over 30 miles per hour, but fortunately we were just cruisin low and slow...does anyone else watch the movie Cars every day with their 3 year old? If not, that last bit might have sounded weird. Just disregard...
Don and I have been saving every extra penny to be able to build a house here...good thing we don't have to go far or spend a lot to have fun. Have I mentioned how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place? It was not easy getting here, but so so so worth it.
