The weather here in Southern Utah is so dramatic & cool! It changes quickly from sunny to rainy, and sometimes it can be both at the same time. I took this shot one afternoon last week from my back door. The color of the mountain behind us was a striking yellow, and the sky was all gray. Notice the double rainbow? It was the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen. This was shot with a wide angle (18mm) at ISO 250 f7.1 1/80 sec.
There is a great park here right at the entrance to the canyon, where we love to play. There is a backdrop of red mountains, and a huge grassy area with a river running through it. The city's irrigation water also runs through the park in a smaller canal-like enclosure. This looks like a river to Noah, and he loves to play in it. On this day, we brought some water guns, and had a good time letting Don squirt all of us. The boys got back at their dad later, by tackling him...although I think he still won that battle as well.
P.S. If you're willing to get a little wet, this park makes a GREAT portrait setting. Just be sure to schedule before November!
Today was full of lots of delightful niceness. For one thing, there is a fantastic nursery here in Cedar, called the Ladybug Nursery. Who could not love a place with the word ladybug in it? - I'm just sayin.... Every spring they host Gardening Days for the community. Free hamburgers, free gardening classes, oh and free LADYBUGS for the kids to take home! Noah especially loved the huge sandbox filled with trucks and tractors. The train towed by a big orange tractor was a bonus.
When we got home those ladybugs were treated to a first class home on some lilac bushes in our back yard. This is one type of bug I can actually touch without my skin crawling right off. Could it be the polka dots? Hmm. Well, you know how much I love polka dots.
The bugs were followed by some fun jumping on the trampoline and swings on the tire swing. The dogs were rolling in the grass and looking all "this is the life". As I write, Noah is on his 4th Otter pop, while Don is mowing the grass. Sam is cleaning out the car, and Jake is playing basket ball! I could get used to this :)
It seems like we are always saying: "this is why we live here". Said it again today. I love this place, the people here, and the community.
