Once in a while along comes a baby who's eyes are really THAT blue...Asher is one such little smooshy face! When he looks at me I feel like I must look back and hold that gaze until he breaks it. He has thick, dark eyelashes to die for and his cheeks are also rosy and dimpled...no fair! I try everyday for this look with the help of Clinique and Lancome! He is such a sweet boy too, and he just lights up when his mama plays with him. Thanks Heather for a fun session!
I distinctly remember how sad I felt when my first two kids went to kindergarten. I was excited for them, but sad for me. When they were babies it seemed that time would go on forever, with diapers, and crying, and cleaning up messes. But when they went off to school, I missed them terribly, and I wished that I had enjoyed that last year at home before they became "big kids". My youngest son is now 4, and will be going to kindergarten next year. I have made a conscious decision to make more time for the little things this year. More days at the park, more cuddle time, more story-reading. I realize that I can never get these days back. Everything else will still be waiting for me when my kids are grown, but my kids won't be small forever. This is my reason for my favorite motto: "Live In The Moment".
This little chubby boy captured my heart the minute I saw him! I love his sweet face and bright eyes. And Xander just happens to be the baby boy of some of my favorite people :-)

Happy Birthday my sweet little boy! I know every mom says this - a lot - but I can hardly believe how quickly the time has gone! It seems like you were just a tiny baby yesterday, and now look at you...so big and fun and spunky. You are such a blessing in our lives and I couldn't imagine our family without you.
I love your funny faces and your unique personality. You are super curious about everything...always getting into the tool box and any other interesting thing. You are trying so hard to figure out how things work, and I hope you never lose this trait! No matter what, I will always be your biggest fan :)

I just love these portraits because they are so unique and fun.
Can you guess what this family's favorite baseball team is? They went on a family vacation to Boston a couple of summers ago, and even the kids became fans.
I love it when I can photograph a family that isn't afraid to let loose and have some fun...even if that means dog-piling Mom!
Kellie was such a good sport throughout the session, and you can see how much her kids love to be with her by the way they hug her.
This session was shot in the brightest part of the day,
but I like the way the contrasts work here.
You can still have a "traditional" family portrait, yet make it highly personal to add to the artwork in your home. It's great when the family has one particular interest, such as baseball...but this can work for most anything.

Warm weather, that is! Wow, Spring has come and gone so many times since March, that I am afraid to jinx it! I think that it is pretty safe to say that we will be having many more warm days than cool now. May is a beautiful month in Cedar City...tulips and a myriad of other bulb varieties blooming their heads off, Wildflowers popping up all over the place, and the unmistakable sound of kids playing outside.
And most importantly... my favorite color!! Bright Green makes just me happy.
I can hardly believe how quickly time passes. Today my son Jake turned 7.He is truly a joy to our family...so full of kindness & sweetness. He is our little night owl who gets out of bed sometimes a dozen times in a night, before falling asleep. He often comes in just to snuggle.
I am excited for Jake, that he is growing and experiencing new and wonderful things. But the mom in me struggles with knowing that in a few short years, he will be too big to snuggle.
I love Jake's innocence and innate goodness. He is always doing little thoughtful things for each of us. He definitely makes our family better.
Behind all that goodness, lies a tough little boy! He loves to hike, and explore. Here, he is holding a new hiking stick he got from his grandma & grandpa.
