Sally & Micah

I had the opportunity to do a whenever session for Sally & Micah. They are such a sweet couple, with two adorable little boys. They aren't sure if the newest member of their family will be a boy or a girl, but one thing is for sure-that baby will be loved and cuddled by everyone!

Sally is about 36 weeks pregnant here, and looks so beautiful. I love the setting they chose, as the sun made the grasses glow a warm green in the background. And of course, you can see how much this couple loves each other, and how excited they are to be welcoming a new baby to their family.

Sam Turns 10

 That's my big 10 year old. He is a great kid, and is growing up like a weed (only cuter than a weed). I see him with this expression a lot lately...kinda like he's taking the world in, processing what it's all about and where he fits in. Ten is a great age because he is so fun to hang out with, and yet he is still my little boy. Happy Birthday Sam!

Baby Tommy

This gorgeous baby boy is just over a week old here, with his sweet little curled up hands, and sleepy eyes.

 

 

Sara, I appreciate the opportunity to photograph you and your new little guy. I hope that as he grows, you will look back at these images, and remember what a special time this was. I think these images can represent for you, the way you have felt about each of your children as they first came into your life. (Sara & her husband have 5 other children! She is such a loving mama to all of her kids :-))

New Home

We are so happy to finally be in our new house! This is our front door...soon I will post some images of my studio (once it's all done).

Crumbly Cupcakes Anna

A couple of friends of ours decided to get together on Father's Day for a potluck dinner. The weather was so beautiful, and the food was yummy. Anna thought the best part was the chocolate cupcakes...I couldn't agree more :-)

 

 

My Old Mailbox

Do you recognize what this is? Why it's a mailbox...attached to my house! As we have been getting our feet wet here in Cedar City, looking for a house to buy, we have been renting a very old house. All of the houses around this neighborhood are old. All of them get personal mail delivery at their front door by a real live mail man who knows everyone's name! Is there anyone else who thinks this is a big deal, besides me?

Before this year, it had been many years since I had my mail delivered to the door. It sure is nice, since it seems like every other aspect of running our lives is getting so impersonal. Sometimes I feel like we are un-learning the art of personal communication. Everyone is connected to their iPods, Bluetooth, and laptops. I am as guilty as the rest, as I love email & adore texting! I do think however, that a personal contact, whether in person, or by phone is not only better, but often more efficient.  I am going to try calling people more than emailing them to see how it feels. After all, my business is all about people, and telling their stories.

There are some things I will miss about this old house - the huge yard for one, and the ability to walk downtown from our front door for another. Our new house is so pretty, and so totally my style, so I am really excited to move in. But I will miss the personal mail delivery :)

Some Cool Graffiti & Pretty Oats

When we were in Northern California, I did a Whenever Session in Chico (my old college town). It was late in the day, and the sun was setting the fields all warm and glowy-my favorite light. There's something about a field of oatey-grasses all lit up from behind. 

 

 

After the sun glowy images were shot, we moved to a spot off the bike trail where there is some graffiti. Not the type of graffiti you hate to see creeping in to your neighborhood - this is actually art, and it is really cool. The walls are a support for the freeway above the bike path, and each side of the walls is painted differently. My favorites are the Dotted tree, and the Martin Luther King painting.

 

This peacock painting was neat too, with all the swishy lines and feathers.

Love the pink. All in all, a fabulous shoot, beautiful light, beautiful girl...lots of fun wardrobe changes. Just the sort of evening I adore.

Vintage Corvette

I love all things vintage, and what is cooler than a vintage corvette from the 60's? We went to an antique car show over the weekend, and Don shot this one - I love how it turned out.

Noah Turns 4

Happy Birthday my sweet little boy! I know every mom says this - a lot - but I can hardly believe how quickly the time has gone! It seems like you were just a tiny baby yesterday, and now look at you...so big and fun and spunky. You are such a blessing in our lives and I couldn't imagine our family without you.

I love your funny faces and your unique personality. You are super curious about everything...always getting into the tool box and any other interesting thing. You are trying so hard to figure out how things work, and I hope you never lose this trait! No matter what, I will always be your biggest fan :)

Big Banana Bike

This is my big yellow bike. When I ride it, I like the way my hair swishes behind me, and how cushy the seat is. It isn't fast like other bikes. It isn't even rugged. But it's like a minivan - but cooler- for a bike.  I love riding it, and I think it needs a proper name. Any ideas? Big Bertha is out, but I am open to suggestions ;)
